Dolls for Sierra Leonean Girls
Chelsea has rounded up friends at VCU and members of STAND to help her with dolls to give to little girls while we are in SL in June. Chelsea made many of the base dolls at Christmas time and her Grandma Opgenorth made more than 50 more! Now Chelsea and her friends and members of STAND in Richmond, VA are decorating them with buttons, ribbons, etc.

Our Plans
Kusheh! Greetings!
I will be travelling back to Kabala in June. My mom is also making the trip with me. Our plans include:
1) Medical outreach and assistance in Peacemaker’s clinic in Kabala
• This is where we will spend most of our time.
• We will assist Peacemaker in patient care.
2) Research and document common illnesses presented in the Kabala clinic with the goal of identifying the treatments and supplies that will be most effective and helpful for future efforts.
• I hope to learn more about the situations that come through the clinic and document them so that we can target future assistance even more and hopefully acquire corporate support for particular needs.
3) Establish community outreach to establish basic first aid education and practice
• As we witnessed when we were there, many do not have the education to support even basic first aid knowledge that could benefit them greatly when injuries happen and prevent prolonged medical problems. I hope to investigate ideas on how we could increase some sort of first aid education in preparation for future implementation.
4) Continue study of the effects of civil war on the people with the goal of creating options for healing and improving condition in this area.
• We witnessed some of the ravages of the war when we were in Sierra Leone. Remember the man in the market that was shunned and ridiculed?
• In part of my studies at VCU, I have done further research into some of the medical and psychological assistance that happened after the war and the “success” of these treatments. I hope to investigate first-hand, some of the things I have studied in books.
We will be staying in Kabala for about a month. We plan to be mules for some medical supplies (similar to our last trip). We are also bringing some small toys and blankets for children.
Please pray for safe travel and that our work is blessed and furthers God’s kingdom!

Thank you for your prayers,
Chelsea (and her mom, Julie)
